Rhododendron Sunday/Mother’s Day at Shore Acres State Park – May 11, 2008 – 11 am-4 pm
Treat mom and family to a delightful day at Shore Acres.  In the garden, George Guthrie, Shore Acres gardener and members of the Southwestern Chapter of the American Rhododendron Society will be on hand to answer your questions about Rhodies.  The Garden House will be open with refreshments provided by the Friends of Shore Acres.  The Old Time Fiddlers are scheduled to perform in the pavilion.

Also, the Bay Area Artists Association= Aplein air painters@ will be in the Garden as the tradition continues of Mother’s day of painting in the garden.  This event is open to all hardy souls who brave the weather, rain or shine to paint in this special spot.  All artists are welcome to participate.  Your only requirements are to bring your own kit and help us enjoy the day.  Bring your own lunch, come around 10 o’clock so you have a little progress before the crowds arrive.  For more information, contact Joan Goodman 217-8242.

The Coos Bay Downtown Association announces the return of Farmers Market, Wednesday May 14th. The market runs every Wednesday in downtown Coos Bay on Central Avenue from May 14th to October 29th.
